Backing & Score

Each ready chapter brings an edited score together with a purpose: what to notice, what to listen for and how to work on the music. Move from understanding the piece to listening, practising and performing, with Stage beside the guidance.

• Follow the chapter order or choose a piece you want to study. Read the goals and guidance prepared for that chapter.
• Listen to the score and practise available passages with tempo, looping and count-in controls. A sample video may be included where available.
• Mark a chapter as in practice, completed by you or needing review. Sign in and opt in to cloud saving to continue your checkpoint on another device.

Only chapters marked ready offer the interactive experience. A completion mark is your own assessment; cloud progress does not mean the book is available offline.

Open a supported score from your personal library, a ready book chapter or the public-domain catalogue. Listen with the notation, practise a passage, adjust tempo and use the available loop and count-in controls.

• Keep the score and sound together while you listen and read.
• Practise a difficult passage at your own tempo, then work towards playing the full piece.
• Return to a book chapter and its guidance. Mark your own progress without treating it as an automatic assessment.

For anyone who practises from printed sheets or PDFs: self-taught players, students going to lessons, musicians in a band. Load your PDF and use your tablet or phone as a music stand, at home while you practise, in your lesson, and on stage too.

• Turn pages by tap, swipe or Bluetooth pedal, without taking your hands off the instrument
• Draw, highlight and stamp symbols on the score; hide them when you want a clean page
• A metronome built in, with a silent, visual-only mode
• Readable on a phone: zooms line by line instead of shrinking the whole page
• Mark the bars once: a playhead follows your tempo and pages turn at the end of the line
• Works offline, no account, nothing collected about you or your music

Score Cinema combines an eligible MusicXML score with sound and visuals to create a video with synchronised moving notation. Use a MIDI performance, recording or performer footage with Creator to express your own playing; source permissions determine export availability.

• Four frames for each platform: 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, 4:5 and 1:1 for Facebook. Portrait frames mark the areas the apps' own buttons cover.
• Export the whole piece, or a 15–60 second clip around the best part. The sound fades out at the end of the clip instead of stopping dead.
• Choose a ready-made look, or set the background, light colours and style, and camera yourself. Each score's settings are remembered on your device.
• Once exported, share straight from your phone where the browser supports it, with a ready caption linking viewers to play that very piece.
