Terms of Service
Last updated: August 29, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing, browsing, or using the Backing & Score application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
2. Description of the Service
Backing & Score provides a digital sheet music platform, interactive backing tracks, cloud storage for musicians, and live video class networking tools. The Service is accessible globally and may be updated, modified, or discontinued at our sole discretion.
3. Subscriptions and Billing
We offer both free access (with limitations) and premium subscription plans (Premium and Educator):
- Auto-Renewal: Subscription plans will automatically renew at the end of the billing period unless canceled prior to the renewal date.
- Billing: You will be billed through our merchant of record, Polar, or through the app stores (Apple, Google) if you start the purchase inside a mobile app. We never receive or store your card details.
- Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to premium features until the end of your current paid billing cycle.
4. Single Purchases (A-la-carte)
Certain digital items (such as individual sheet music, courses, or digital assets) may be offered for a one-time fee. Once a digital item is purchased and securely added to your account's entitlement ledger, it is deemed fully delivered.
5. Content and Copyright
Two different kinds of content live here, and the rules are not the same for both.
- Our catalog. Sheet music and backing tracks we engrave, record, or license. Only our editorial team publishes to it. Where content is licensed from rights holders, we account to them from our own subscription and sales records. We do not report your individual listening or practice history to publishers or rights organisations — see the Privacy Policy.
- Content you upload. Files you place in your Drive stay yours. They are private, are not indexed, and do not enter our public catalog. We host and serve them so that you can use and share them within your own classes.
- Your licence to our catalog. You are granted a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to play it. You may not extract, reproduce, redistribute, or use the audio or score data for commercial public performance without obtaining the necessary mechanical and performance licences independently.
- Your responsibility for what you upload. You confirm you have the right to use and share what you put here. If a rights holder reports it, we review and may restrict access to it — see the Copyright page for how that works and how to appeal.
6. Educator and User-Generated Content
Users subscribed to the Educator tier may create live rooms and invite guests. You are solely responsible for ensuring that any materials or discussions shared within these sessions comply with local laws and do not contain pirated or offensive material. Backing & Score reserves the right to restrict content or terminate accounts that violate these rules, including accounts that repeatedly upload material they have no right to share.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Backing & Score shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.
8. Contact Information
